I'm currently seriously thinking about buying a Nintendo DSi just to play Scribblenauts...
In case you never heard of Scribblenauts, imagine a dictionary where all of the tens of thousands of entries can come to life with all their respective properties. Vehicles move, animals desire their favorite type of food, vampires get scared of garlic, giant enemy crabs are enormous and angry, fire melts ice, water extinguishes fire, time machines let you travel in time, ... you name it. Basic gameplay breaks down to solving puzzles by summoning all different kinds of items. There's not but dozens of ways to solve a puzzle.
Now here's a simple example, and a TODO list for checking whether they actually work once I get this game. As seen in the E3 demo: get a "Starite" out of a tree. There are three basic ways to tackle this problem: a) Move the Starite to Maxwell, our player figure, b) Move Maxwell to the Starite, or c) destroy the tree.
- a) Move the Starite to Maxwell
- Try a magnet
- With a firetruck, a hose and lots of water
- Drop a safe on it
- b) Move Maxwell to the Starite
- Get into an ark and summon a flood
- Use a phone to call the fire department to let them get it out of the tree
- Use a seesaw and a piano
- Use a car-jack
- Use stilts
- Use an elevator
- c) Destroy the tree
- With a beaver
- With termites
- With a laser(gun)
- With an elephant, a rope, and a mouse.
- With a flamethrower
